✨ Two years ago today, I graduated with my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Illustration and a minor in Art History. It took me 14 years to get here—and every step was hard-fought.

I went back to college as a single mom of two little girls, working a job also while navigating the aftermath of a painful and unhealthy marriage. I was healing from betrayal, emotional wounds, and years of turmoil—trying to build something new from a place that once felt broken. All the while, I was dealing with something I now understand as post-separation abuse.

There were voices telling me I shouldn’t be in school—that I should just stay home, which wasn’t an option. Living on welfare and making minimum wage wasn’t going to provide the future I envisioned for my family. I had no choice but to fight forward.

Three years in, I married a wonderful man who became my rock and greatest support. Even so, the journey wasn’t easy. I kept going—through pregnancy, miscarriage, breastfeeding, raising five children (including a set of twins!), and continuing the long process of healing and rebuilding.

I shifted from a medical career path to art and chose to go at a pace that allowed me to be present as a mother while still becoming the artist and woman I knew I could be.

Some might say 14 years is “too long.” But I see 14 years of perseverance, growth, grit, resilience, and deep transformation.

You can walk through fire and still choose to rise from the ashes.
Keep moving forward—your strength is not in how easy the path has been, but in how bravely you’ve kept going anyway. 💛

Merry Christmas! This is the first year in maybe 18 years I didn’t get cards out, so consider this your card 😆 It was such a packed month and I’ve been really sick on and off for several months. It’s been miserable but I’m grateful to be able to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ today and to spend time with my family. I hope you all are doing well and you were able to have a very Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas! This is the first year in maybe 18 years I didn’t get cards out, so consider this your card 😆 It was such a packed month and I’ve been really sick on and off for several months. It’s been miserable but I’m grateful to be able to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ today and to spend time with my family. I hope you all are doing well and you were able to have a very Merry Christmas!!

I know I’m late but better late than never. October was an amazing and crazy month! I cannot believe we got as much into it as we did. We have a small annual family Halloween party and usually have a family costume, although that’s coming to an end. My oldest kids dressed up to match their boyfriends this year and they were so cute 🥰 my one daughter’s boyfriend serves in the military and he’s not supposed to show his face on social media so I made him anonymous 😅 All in all it was truly such a great chaotic month but I am ready for the small reprieve November brings.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is one of my favorite books ever. I read it every October. I drew little fun ink sketch years ago. My tripod broke and I wrapped my tripod leg around my neck, which is why it’s so shaky 😆 Sorry if it gives you motion sickness!
