Artist Statement — Queens (Memento Mori Series)
This series depicts four historical queens rendered with skulls in place of faces, confronting the illusion of permanence attached to power and royalty. Drawing from the memento mori tradition, the works remind us that status, beauty, and authority fade, leaving mortality as the great equalizer.
